Have you ever been asked by an employer what your top skills are and then found yourself wondering what to say? This can happen to the best of us, but it is important for effective job searching to know yourself and be armed with stories that demonstrate your top skills, so that you have answers in interviews, at networking events, on the phone.
As a Career Coach, I recommend keeping these stories between 30-90 seconds long and articulating the tangible results you can bring to an employer using each skill. This takes practice, practice, practice... but it really works.
Rehearsing your stories in front of mirror or with friends can really help to alleviate the stress that comes from being put on the stop when marketing yourself. I often do this myself when I attend networking events, and find myself feeling more confident each time!
